In 2011, after six decades of isolation, Myanmar opened up to the rest of the world again. At the time of these photos, in 2014, many parts of the country remained off-limits to visitors, but some regions were relatively accessible: the country's economic capital Yangon, the town of 2,000 temples Bagan, the Irrawaddy River, the historic town of Mandalay, and Inle Lake are some of them.
